Darkness Before Dawn essay test

DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN ESSAY TEST

Even though Keisha is intelligent and mature, she is easily entangled in Jonathan Hathaway's trap. Explain how this occurs. What does he do to gain her trust? What does she see in him? Did Keisha always think Jonathan was a wonderful man, or were there warnings that something was not quite right? In addition, discuss whether you think Keisha's mistakes are realistic.

How you will be graded:

  • Responses are at least 1 page with multiple paragraphs (at least 5 sentences)
  • Specific examples from the novel are cited (you do not necessarily have to use page numbers or direct quotations, but the examples should demonstrate a thorough understanding of the novel)
  • All elements of the prompt are addressed
  • Grammar and punctuation are reasonably controlled given the time constraint

Ideas (all elements of prompt are addressed) -- 10 points

Personal reflection on Keisha’s mistakes -- 10 points

Examples -- 5 points

Grammar/punctuation -- 5 points

Total: 30 points
